etiquette
Q: Why do you dress up when you go to the opera? A: Because I'm not an ass.
This is, surprisingly, the answer to a lot of etiquette questions. Or, at least, "Because I want to at least pretend I'm not an ass."

Is it appropriate for a single young man to go to a DEN OF SIN AND VICE? I think the answer is obviously NO. Dancing, "hot" drinks, and the DEVIL'S BOXCARS are sure to follow. I've seen many a promising young man reduced to a pale shell of himself by DRINK and LOOSE WOMEN. Such as you will often find at UNIVERSITY.
On the other hand, by all means go to the opera. If you aren't gay, you're safe as houses.
What did you see? Make sure to go see Onegin when it's on.
You know I wouldn't go to an opera! You know my opinions about the Theatre, Dancing, and Gambling! The last time I went to an opera was only because my mother was in it. I only escaped with my life and my virtue because I wore a jacket even though the old middle-western theatre was quite un-air-conditioned that summer, providing me a constant reminder of the fires of hell which await the ungodly.
